Isle of Skye 4.2.2025

 I have been so lucky with weather - as you can see, clear and sunny every day - and so warm.  

This pic was from last night - walking back to my B&B after dinner.  Always thinking of my grandchildren 💕💙

Breakfast this morning - the yogurt here is delicious.  The owner put out jam she made from her own raspberries!

And of course, toast in a rack - so that it doesn’t get soggy. 

On to adventures.

First stop - a view back into the Portree Harbor, with the iconic brightly painted houses.

Then on to see where dinosaurs once roamed during the Jurassic Period.

At low tide, you can see fossilized dinosaur footprints - we were there at high tide - so we got the cartoon version.

Have been seeing lots of sheep - real ones, not cartoon versions! They each are painted for owner identification - an odd look but apparently effective.

Behind the sheep are “kilt stones” so called because they resemble the pleats of kilts.

Had to have a picture of heather - the only bush that I saw in bloom - mostly bloom starts in May.

On to black sand beaches - as these are volcanic islands.  From the beach you can see a crofter’s bothy. Then there’s a zoomed in pic of it. Back in the day, farmers would wade (at low tide) their cows across for the summer.  Not sure why unless it was for better grazing?

On to the Quiraing - my pics don’t do it justice so def check out link.  It’s a formation from a long ago landslide - there are multiple areas.

And…. a hairy coo (cow)!

And McQueen’s ashes are scattered here - as Skye is where Clan McQueen is from.

Final stop of the day - whisky tasting!

I had the Port Ruighe - strong!  But tasty.

And on to dinner - fish and chips with mushy peas 

Spoiler - mushy peas were the best part.

And so to bed.
